Resin Volume to Weight Converter
Convert between the volume and the weight of epoxy using its density. Handy when your mix ratio is by weight but you measure by volume, or the other way round.
How the calculation works
Weight = volume × density and Volume = weight ÷ density, with the volume in millilitres and the weight in grams. The amount you type is read as a volume or a weight depending on the direction you choose, then converted with the unit factors.
Example: 32 US fl oz is 946.35 ml. At 1.1 g/ml that weighs 1,041 g, or 2.30 lb.
For splitting a mix by ratio, use the epoxy mixing ratio calculator.
Use the density printed on your product's data sheet for accurate results.
Frequently asked questions
What is the density of epoxy resin?
Most epoxy resins are around 1.1 g/ml, which is about 1.1 times denser than water. Hardeners are usually a little lighter, around 0.95 to 1.0 g/ml. The exact number is on your product's data sheet.
Why is my kit sold by weight and by volume?
Many brands list a volume on the box, but the ratio on the data sheet may be by weight. Because resin and hardener have different densities, a 2:1 ratio by volume is not 2:1 by weight.
Can I use this to convert a mix ratio from volume to weight?
Convert Part A and Part B separately with their own densities, taking the density of each from the data sheet.
How accurate is this?
As accurate as the density you enter. If you do not know it, 1.1 g/ml is a reasonable estimate for the mixed epoxy, but use the data sheet for real work.
