Epoxy Coverage Calculator
Already have a kit? Enter how much mixed epoxy you have and how thick you want to pour it, and the calculator tells you how much surface it covers.
How the calculation works
Area = volume ÷ thickness
The volume is converted to cubic centimetres and the thickness to centimetres, which gives the area in square centimetres. That is then shown in square feet (929.03 square centimetres each) and square metres.
Example: 1 US gallon is 3,785 cubic centimetres. At 1/8 inch (0.3175 cm) it covers 11,923 square centimetres, which is about 12.8 square feet.
If you want to work out how much resin a whole project needs, try the tabletop epoxy calculator.
Estimate only. Real coverage is lower on porous or uneven surfaces.
Frequently asked questions
How many square feet does a gallon of epoxy cover?
A US gallon is 231 cubic inches. At 1/16 inch thick it covers about 25.7 square feet, at 1/8 inch about 12.8 square feet, and at 1/4 inch about 6.4 square feet.
Why does my epoxy cover less than the calculator says?
Porous wood soaks up resin, surfaces are rarely perfectly flat, and some epoxy is lost in the mixing cup and on drips. Plan on 10 to 15% less coverage in practice.
Does the coverage depend on the brand?
The maths does not, because it only uses volume. Brands differ in the maximum thickness per pour and in how much they shrink while curing, so always check the data sheet.
What if I know the area and need the volume?
Use the tabletop epoxy calculator, which works the other way round and gives the volume from the area and thickness.
